Wednesdays in February, 7:30 to 8:30 PM
My View of the World
Join Rev. Dr. Cynthia Cavalcanti-Neale for a new Wednesday-evening Book Study in February. Revisiting the Physics/Metaphysics connection, we will cover two brilliant essays by Nobel-prize winner Erwin Schrödinger. Said essays, “Seek for the Road” and “What Is Real?” are included in one slender volume entitled, My View of the World.
Schrödinger’s worldview, derived from the Indian writings of the Vedanta, is that there is only a single consciousness of which we are all different aspects. He admits his view is mystical and metaphysical – sounds perfect for Science of Mind students!
Tuition is $10 per class or $35 for all four if paid in advance. Please sign up in the Social Hall so we can reserve your copy of this amazing text!
Saturday, Feb. 6, 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 PM at the Center in the Social Hall

The Brain in Love
In February, a Sunday book study will be lead by Rev. Celeste Terken on The Brain in Love by Daniel Amen. Your advance registration for the class will ensure there are adequate materials for all participants. Workshops are $10.00 each or $25.00 for all three if paid on or before first session. Bring a Friend!!!
Sunday, February 14, 1:15 PM to 3:30 PM
 Sun Circle
We will continue with Don Miguel Ruiz’s book, The Voice of Knowledge.
Discussion and handouts will cover Chapter 7, “Emotions Are Real,” and Chapter 8, “Common Sense and Blind Faith.”
As children, we were told how to dress, how to act, and how to think. Each of these was enforced by punishment or reward. The punishment and reward method continued into our teenage years when the boy was told a man is suppose to be the provider, protector and responsible for his family. The girl was told how to dress, how to act, be the caretaker of the family, and listen to her husband. Sounds a little bit like how we train our animals, doesn’t it?
As a result, we often react to life from our subconscious mind and unknowingly use punishment, reward, and manipulation to feel worthy, accepted, and needed. Become aware of what is hidden in your subconscious and remember, “What you believe today will be your tomorrow experience,” whether from the conscious or subconscious.

Metaphysical Movie Night

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Starring: Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet, Mark Ruffalo, and Kirsten Dunst.
What if there were a machine that could be hooked up to your skull, penetrate your brain waves, and selectively erase memories of people or events that caused you pain? In this fascinating film from 2004, such a procedure exists, and we follow the lives of the doctor who invented it, his staff, and his patients as they try to improve life through selective amnesia.
This movie brings up lots of interesting topics such as: Where do memories actually reside? Do our memories make us who we are? Would erasing our “bad” memories actually improve our lives, or would we just attract similar people and situations again? Can what we call “bad” ever be separated from what we call “good?” What are the metaphysics of memory?
Join Rev. Andrea Scheib and the moviegoers as they watch and discuss this intriguing film. Bring a dessert to share, and invite a friend.
Everyone is welcome. Suggested love offering, $5

Women’s Moon Circle If Women Counted . . .
Join Jeanne Bertolina for a follow-up to her 2009 Moon Circle on the origins of the patriarchy. We will watch a video based on Marilyn Waring’s book, Counting for Nothing: What Men Value and What Women Are Worth.
This fascinating video examines how value is assigned to activities in our patriarchal economies. The Exxon Valdez oil spill is in the plus column as a productive event because money changed hands in its aftermath and measurable commerce was generated.
In contrast, anything not counted on a balance sheet is deemed worthless, no matter how essential it is to the functioning of society (gathering wood and water, maintaining a household, raising children, etc.). Those who perform “worthless” activities (mostly women) are also deemed worthless and not eligible for economic benefits reserved for those who perform “productive” work (mostly men).
We will discuss alternatives to current global values, ones that are based on real human needs and spiritual principles. What’s your vision of a more equitable and sustainable economic system? Bring a potluck dish to share for lunch and let’s discuss it. Because of the length of the video, we will start watching exactly at 10 a.m.

Laura Berman & Craig Benelli in Concert Sunday, March 7, 1:30 PM
Singer-songwriter Laura Berman (http://www.myspace.com/lauraberman) and her husband, guitarist-songwriter Craig Benelli (http://www.myspace.com/craigbenelli) will visit us for the Sunday services and present an afternoon concert. They need very little introduction, as many of us have fond memories of their last visit on October 26, 2008. They have appeared with Marianne Williamson, Neale Donald Walsch, and Dr. Masaru Emoto, among others. They have performed at New Thought churches throughout the nation and wowed the audiences at the last two Asilomar conferences. They currently live in Ashland, OR, and are driving to Fremont just to visit us; so please make them feel welcome and invite your friends.
Suggested Love Offering: $20

You are invited to the Mid-service Meditation each Sunday between the first and second services. We start at 10:50 a.m., and you are welcome to enter the sanctuary quietly at any time and continue with us. We simply ask you maintain the still, quiet ambiance. The gently guided meditations end at 11:20 a.m.
The theme for February’s meditations is “In Love as Love.” God is all there is. God is Love. Love is all there is. I am one with God. I am love. In what way am I choosing to express Love now? How does it look and feel when I live as the love I am?
Our Mid-service Meditation is a private time of introspection. It is a safe place to look at one’s own life and envision it as perfect. Using the Principles of Science of Mind, we change our thinking and change our life. Each person makes choices in every moment. During our meditation service, there is an opportunity to increase awareness and choose consciously. It is a time to release, let go, and let God. It is time to know it is done unto each one according to his or her belief. Do you consciously choose your highest good?
Whether you attend occasionally or allow this to become a consistent practice, I know the sanctuary at the Sunday Mid-service Meditation is a powerful place to be. See you there!
